Recover/Repair fstab on Read Only File System

If you ended up a read only file system error on an fstab error, you may use the following to correct fstab and recover your OS without a rescue disk:
mount / -o remount,rw
This will only work if your root partition is safe and working, while your fstab had a syntax error that requires correcting.
